On December 6, a demonstration urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza occurred at the Golden Gate Bridge. Protesters marched along the bridge’s sidewalk from both ends, chanting and displaying posters with messages supporting the call for a ceasefire.
Amid this, an image is widely shared on social media claiming that the US flag was removed and replaced with a Palestinian one during the Golden Gate protest.
The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “They have no respect for America. Palestinian activists REMOVED the flag of the US and replaced it with the Palestinian flag at the Golden Gate Bridge. #USA #StandWithIsrael”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, our team traced a video report by San Francisco-based TV station Kron4 News, showcasing the incident with both flags hoisted on the pole and a small crowd.
ABC7 News also shared a video featuring both flags hoisted on the pole, noting that the Palestinian flag was “quickly taken down.” The individual responsible for installing the flag was arrested.
A screen recording capturing the removal of the Palestinian flag was included in a KTVU Fox 2 news report. The US flag remained visible on the pole in this clip.
Reuters also reached out to a spokesperson for the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District, the unit that oversees the bridge. In the email response, it was clarified that “the U.S. flag was not removed during the protest on December 6”.
Thus, we can conclusively say that the US flag has not been removed and replaced by a Palestinian during the Golden Gate Bridge protest on December 6.
