First AAP and now BJP; here’s the truth behind this viral video of the ‘magic blankets’

Ahead of Delhi assembly elections, a video is doing rounds on social media in which a differently-abled man is being given a blanket. After taking the blanket, the man in the wheelchair can be seen getting up and walking.

The claims are being made that it was an act staged act pulled by BJP.

The caption of the video read: “BJP distributing blankets to the disabled people, before turning off the camera the disabled walked away. 🤣🤣🤣

At the time of filing the report, the above post had more than 3,000 Facebook shares.

The video was shared extensively on Facebook.


FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and found the claim attached to the video to be false.

Firstly, we closely analysed the video and caught our attention on the banner in the background which reads- डिजिटल साक्षरता संसथान वितरण समारोह (Digital Saksharta Sansthan Distribution Ceremony).

On further investigation, we came across a news bulletin of a local news channel AbhiTak dated January 25th 2020 which featured the same video.

According to the news report, the video is from Bijnor’s Seohara in Uttar Pradesh.

The report further suggested that the man in the video who was seen walking in the video is actually 40% disabled.

In conclusion, the above information proves that the claims attached to the viral video are FAKE.
