Brisbane: After a fine bowling performance by Mohammed Shami in the final over, India managed to beat Australia in the first warm-up game ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Indian openers took charge as KL Rahul played a swift innings of 57 runs in 33 deliveries. Skipper Rohit Sharma managed to connect a few bowls and was later dismissed at 15 runs.
Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav looked in great touch but the partnership was broken with the dismissal of Kohli.
Suryakumar played a crucial knock of 50 runs in the innings. India concluded the innings with 186 runs on board.
Australia had a promising inning start with skipper Aaron Finch and Mitch Marsh. Aaron Finch scored 76 runs while chasing.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar secured two wickets in the match. Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel picked one wicket each.
Mohammed Shami made an impactful comeback in the side and bowled the final over picking three wickets and a run out and leading India to a promising win in the first warmup game.
