Indian-origin CEO Chander Agarwal has lost a court battle after trying to recover more than 370,000 US dollars he spent on his former girlfriend, Felicia Lee.
Agarwal, the Managing Director of TCI Express, claimed that the money he spent during their relationship was actually given as loans and should be repaid.
The spending included luxury purchases, first-class flights, foreign trips and a feng shui master for Lee’s apartment.
However, the Singapore court rejected most of his claims, ruling that Agarwal had willingly spent the money while he was in love.
The court heard that Agarwal had given Lee access to his American Express card and told her, “Anything you want.”
When Lee asked how she could repay him, Agarwal reportedly responded, “No need. I am not a moneylender.”
The judge also rejected Agarwal’s allegation that Lee had deceived him about their relationship.
Ultimately, the court concluded that most of the spending was voluntary and treated as gifts, leaving Agarwal unable to recover the money.
