‘Jumbo’ turns 48, here are some of the biggest moment of his career

Date:

The ‘Jumbo’ of the Indian cricket team, Anil Kumble, celebrates his 48 birthday today. With close to 1,000 international wickets, his contribution to the cricket world is legendary.

As the cricketer turns 48, let’s have a look at the biggest moments of his career.

Kumble has taken a total of 619 wickets in Tests and 337 in ODIs.

In February 1999, in the second test of the two-game series against Pakistan, Anil Kumble took 10/74. With this, he became only the second bowler in cricket history to take 10 wickets in an innings.

On the third day of the fourth Test against West Indies at St John’s in May 2002, Kumble won hearts when he stepped on the field with a broken his jaw and took the much-needed wicket of Brian Lara.

Kumble scored his first and last ton in 2007, during the final test between India and England

On November 27, 1993, Kumble destroyed the West Indies batting line-up by taking 6/12. The record was broken by Stuart Binny’s 6/4 against Bangladesh in 2014.

India’s highest wicket-taker retired from playing on January 4, 2012. He was honored with Arjuna Award in 1995 and Padma Shri in 2005.
