Lata Mangeshkar’s family is upset with Karan Johar over his ‘Lust Stories’

Date:

Director Karan Johar has used the title track of his blockbuster film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ in one of the scenes of his short film segment from the recently-released four-tiered omnibus ‘Lust Stories’ which is streaming on Netflix.

The scene involves the lead actress Kiara Advani, a newly-married wife.

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Lust Stories, the scene has shown Kiara’s character’s vibrator activating when the K3G title track plays in the background.

An irate member from the Mangeshkar family has been quoted in the report as saying, “Why did Karan Johar use Lata Didi’s immortal song in such an embarrassing situation? I still remember how ecstatic Karan was when Didi had recorded the song for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He said it was a dream come true. Why turn the dream song into a nightmare now?” The song was originally picturised on Jaya Bachchan and is among the most popular songs in Bollywood.

“At her age, we don’t want to expose her to this kind of ugly desecration of her song. But we (Mangeshkar’s family) wonder why he needed to use a bhajan-like song sung in the most revered voice of Lataji to show his heroine in an orgasmic state. He could have used any other song,” the family member said further.
