Mahatma Gandhi’s Statue Vandalised In Punjab

Bhatinda: A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised by some miscreants between Thursday and Friday night as confirmed by the police on Saturday.

Harjot Singh, In-charge of Rama Mandi police station said that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi situated at a public park in Rama Mandi area was vandalised by unidentified miscreants.

He further added that the investigation is underway and an FIR under section 379 and 427 have been registered and CCTV footage of the area is being examined to trace the culprits.

Ashok Kumar Singh, president of the District Urban Congress in conversation with PTI said that they demand immediate arrest of those who were behind the incident.

Locals around the area strongly condemned the incident while police assured that the culprits will be nabbed soon.

This comes days after an incident of vandalisation of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue was reported from Ontario province in Canada.
