In a bid to curb the speed menace inn the millennial city, the local administration has taken the help of technology by installing CCTV cameras across Gurugram which will help the police to penalise the offenders.

The speed cameras have been installed at prominent junctures such as Sikandarpur, Cybercity underpass, Gurugram-Faridabad toll road.
Though there has been proper speeding regulations by the administration still there has been many cases of over speeding due to which heinous accidents claimed many lives. The speed limit assigned to underpasses on NH-8 ncluding ones at Rajiv Chowk and Signature Tower is 30 kmph, while in ones at Cyber City and Golf Course Road, it’s 50kmph.

reportedly, in 2017, over 7 lakh fines were issued manually by the traffic police for a range of violations. “Enforcement is an effective measure to reduce accidents in any matter. Hence, CCTV cameras will not only help keep a check on traffic violations but correspondingly, reduce the risk of accidents to a significant extent as people will be forced to abide by the traffic rules,” Sarika Panda Bhatt, programme coordinator, Haryana Vision Zero was quoted in a report earlier.
