Sensex, Nifty plunge on no-confidence concerns

The 30-share benchmark index Sensex and the broader Nifty plunged after the news that no-confidence motion against the government has been moved in the house and will be undertaken on Friday. Sensex closed 146.52 points down at 36,373.44, while the Nifty 50 ended 27.60 points lower at 10,980.45.

The 30-share Sensex had spurted 227.91 points, or 0.62 per cent, to hit new high of 36,747.87, surpassing its previous record of 36,740.07 recorded on July 13, but plunged soon on news of the trust motion.
