Irish singer Sinead O’Connor converted to Islam and announced it on Twitter, adopting the name Shuhada’ Davitt is in the process.
The singer, who is best known for the smash 1990 remake of Prince’s Nothing Compares 2 U, made the announcement Thursday.

The 51-year-old singer, who had changed her name to Magda Davitt last year, also tweeted a photo of her wearing the hijab, and also a video of her singing the Azan, apologizing for getting some of the pronunciations wrong.
