This is not the tallest Shiva Lingam in Sri Lanka; here’s the truth

A picture of a Shiva Lingam has been making rounds on social media and it is claimed that it is a 108-feet Shiva lingam situated in Sri Lanka.

The text on the picture read: “श्रीलंका में 108 फ़ीट का शिवलिंग बन के तैयार हो गया है दुनिया का सबसे ऊँचा शिवलिंग है बोलो हर हर महादेव”

(Translation: “In Sri Lanka, the 108-feet Shivling is ready to become the world’s tallest Shivling”)

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the above post we found that the claim attached with the picture is FAKE.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found that the picture of Shiv Lingam is not from Sri Lanka.

We came across a website of ‘Siddhaguru Sri Ramanananda Maharshi‘ which had the pictures of the same structure. The picture is of 63 Feet Shiva Linga in Nagireddypalle, Bhongir, Telangana.

Meanwhile, when we further look for the tallest Shiva Lingam, we found it to be in Kerala. Situated at Maheshwaram Sri Shiva Parvathy Temple at Chenkal in Kerala is 111.2 feet tall.

Hence, the above information proves that the viral post is FAKE.
