Unironed Mondays For A Greener Tomorrow: CSIR’s Sustainability Campaign

Scientists of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the CSIR’ have started an innovative campaign – “Wrinkles Achhe Hain (WAH)” an effort aimed at raising awareness about energy conservation and environmental protection.

The campaign is marked by employees wearing unironed clothes on Mondays to effectively highlight the carbon emissions associated with ironing clothes and promoting a simple yet impactful way to reduce one’s carbon footprint.
Under the leadership of Dr N Kalaiselvi, CSIR’s first woman director general, the CSIR which is currently observing Swachta Pakhwada from May 1 to 15 has rolled out many such environment-friendly measures, demonstrating a commitment to a progressive approach towards addressing climate change

The message “Let’s iron out climate change, not our clothes!” succinctly captures the essence of the campaign, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing environmental conservation over personal appearances.

This initiative not only encourages individual actions but also fosters a sense of collective responsibility among employees to contribute toward a greener and more sustainable future. . By integrating sustainability principles into organizational practices, CSIR sets an example for other institutions to follow in promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.
