Fact Check: 2019 Edited Clip Of Kejriwal’s Speech Viral With Fictitious Claims

An video claiming that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said Modi and Shah would destroy Pakistan if elected again to power in 2024 is doing the rounds on social media. Many users have criticised Kejriwal for showing support for Pakistan in his speech.

A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption: आज एक बहुत पुराना वीडियो मिला है केजरीवाल का, आप लोग भी देखिये कितना प्रेम है इसको पाकिस्तान से। (English translation: Today I have found a very old video of Kejriwal, you also see how much he loves Pakistan.)

You can check the post here.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team traced a YouTube video, dated January 19, 2019, with a title: “TMC Rally in Kolkata | PM Modi & Amit Shah’s Combo has Finished Country | Says Arvind Kejriwal”. The keyframes starting at 5:41 match the viral clip except that he said “Hindustan” here instead of “Pakistan” as said in the viral clip. This indicates that the viral video might have been manipulated.

Searching further, we came across a tweet from January 19, 2019, published on the official handle of India Today. Here too, he has uttered the word “Hindustan”, not “Pakistan”.

This confirms that the viral video has been edited. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Arvind Kejriwal said Modi and Shah would destroy Pakistan if elected to power in the 2024 General elections, is misleading.
