Fact Check: Old Clip Fictitiously Shared As ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Song Played During The Recent India-Pak Match

India secured its most significant victory against Pakistan in a One-Day International (ODI) match by a staggering 228 runs during the Asia Cup 2023. Against this backdrop, a video shows spectators in the stadium dancing to the tune of ‘Bharat Ka Bacha Bacha Jai Shri Ram Bolega’ song. The video also features the DJ responsible for playing this patriotic chant in the stadium.

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “कल भारत पाकिस्तान मैच के कुछ भक्तिमय पल । सच मे मेरा देश बदल रहा है ओर बदल चुका हे.. जय श्री राम” (English translation: Some devotional moments from yesterday’s India-Pakistan match. Really my country is changing and has changed. Jai Shri Ram)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Performing a Reverse Image Search. We found a similar clip uploaded on YouTube, dated March 17, 2023. It’s worth noting that the song playing in the video is from the Bollywood film ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno.’ Also, a comment under the video identifies the individual responsible for the music as DJ Vishal from Jodhpur.

We were able to identify an Instagram account under the name ‘dj_vishal_jodhpur.’ This account, indeed, belongs to the individual seen playing the song in the viral video during the match. According to the Instagram account’s bio, Vishal had previously served as a DJ at the ‘LLC’ T20 match held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The Legends League Cricket (LLC) is a T20 tournament exclusively for retired players. It made its debut in India in September 2022. According to ‘ESPN,’ the LLC 2022 matches took place between September 17 and October 5 in various Indian cities, including Jodhpur.

It was also found that DJ Vishal himself shared the viral video featuring the song ‘Bharat Ka Bacha Bacha Jai Shri Ram Bolega’ on his Instagram account on September 8. Further investigation uncovers another post from him, dated December 5, 2022, which includes a snippet of the same viral video. This indicates that the video from the cricket match is not recent but several months old. Notably, in this video, the song ‘Malhari’ from the movie Bajirao Mastan was being played at the stadium.
