‘J&K is an integral part of India’: MEA snubs China-Pak

Date:

‘J&K is an integral part of India.’ Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, reiterated this yet again on Tuesday when he rejected the reference of Jammu and Kashmir by China and Pakistan.
He firmly rejected the reference that was put out by China and Pakistan over the weekend. The statement described the Kashmir issue as a dispute left from history.

He stated, “we reject the reference to Jammu & Kashmir in the joint statement issued by China and Pakistan after the recent visit of Chinese Foreign Minister. J&K is an integral part of India.”

In addition, he stated that India has asked the two countries to stop work on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor that passes through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “We call on the parties concerned to cease such actions,” Kumar said.

The ‘China Pakistan Economic Corridor’ passes through the territory of India that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947.
This isn’t the first time that India has expressed concerns over the corridor. Kumar said that “India is resolutely opposed to any actions by other countries to change the status quo in Pakistan occupied J&K.”

This comes in the wake of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s two-day visit to Pakistan, where he described the relationship between the two countries as “rock-solid and unbreakable”.

China had earlier called for a closed-door meeting at the United Nations Security Council in the wake of India’s decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the initiative was turned down as India received a strong support from other countries.
