Kejriwal is Delhis new rockstar

Date:

New Delhi: The drums are beating, the loudspeakers are turned on, the supporters of AAP have started celebrating and the BJP’s charismatic magician has gone silent after his magical spree ended in the 2015 Delhi polls.

The stage is set to welcome the new rockstar of the national capital, i.e. none other than chief of common man’s party Arvind Kejriwal.

When elections were announced for the national capital, BJP under the leadership of Modi was the clear favourite, which received a clear mandate in all the elections it contested in since 2013.

Just before the fiercely fought battle for the throne of Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP was riding the ‘Modi Wave’ against Aam aadmi Party (AAP) which was considered underdogs.

AAP is on the verge of recreating history and is set to return to power with a massive mandate in Delhi.

The current trends show that AAP is going to fetch more than 60 seats in the 70-member Delhi assembly. Whereas, BJP’s ensemble star cast with big names like former IPS officer turned politician Kiran Bedi, Krishna Tirath, MS Dheer with Congress CM nominee Ajay Maken, A S Walia, and Sharmishtha Mukherjee – President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter – and many more names are on a loosing spree as the new rockstar set the stage on fire by playing the anti-corruption signature tune of its party all through his party’s election campaign.

The tune marked such an impression that people from not only the middle class voted for it but it also got support from weaker section, who reposed their faith in AAP’s 49 day stint in government.

Commenting on AAP’s performance, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Baneerjee called the election result of Delhi a turning point in the country’s political situation.

“Delhi election is a turning point of the present political situation. Shows political vendetta has no place in a democracy. Country needed this change,” she said in a tweet.

“This is a victory for the people and a big defeat for the arrogant and those who are doing political vendetta & spreading hate among people,” Banerjee said in another tweet.

Expressing happiness over the performance of party, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said, “it was not just under class, but the middle class also voted for AAP. The (Narendra Modi) juggernaut seems to have halted at least for now.
