East meets West in this sun-soaked state, where Indian culture intertwines with Portuguese influences left over from a 500-year occupation. The beaches have long served as a magnet for serene hedonists.

To the north, the tourist-centered scene is prevalent, with an international flair that is now skewing more hip than hippie. Travel south for stretches of unspoiled sand and an escape from large resorts. Temples, mosques and wildlife sanctuaries are quite an attraction. The most popular places include Old Goa, Anjuna Market, Dudhsagar Falls.

It is the HERITAGE CITY OF INDIA. Udaipur, known as the Venice of the East, boasts several sparkling lakes against a backdrop of the Aravalli hills. Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir, islands in Fateh Sagar Lake, are the site of Udaipur Solar Observatory and Nehru Garden.

Famous palaces include the magical Lake Palace, now a luxurious five-star hotel, and the massive City Palace on Pichola’s east bank, featuring epic courtyards and stunning paintings.The places to be visited are Jain Temple – Ranakpur, Shilpgram, City Palace of Udaipur.

3.)DharamShala

Serenely spiritual Dharamsala is home to the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet. It’s  known for its religious iconography and is the monastery of the Dalai Lama, who holds public lectures a few times a year. Once you’ve restored your spiritual energy, enjoy a picturesque stroll to Bhagsu Waterfall or climb the hill to Triund to bask in stunning views of the Himalayas. Places to be visited are Tsuglag Khang, KangraValley, Triund Dharamshala.

The kings of the Wodeyar dynasty set the bar high for the southern cultural capital of Mysore. Ornate palaces and the Gothic St. Philomena’s Church with its 175-foot spires pack a visual punch; local institutions keep Carnatic classical music and dance in the public eye. A prominent 11th-century temple sits atop 1,000 steps on the city’s outskirts. Dress to the nines and party like a rock star in celebration of Mysore heritage during the lively Dussehra festival, held for 10 days in October/November. One of the most unexplored and mystical places in India happen to be the North East region. Bound by the majestic Himalayas with the gushing Teesta River crisscrossing the entire stretch of the land, Sikkim in North East India is one of the best tourist places in India to uncover. The fact that it is relatively unexplored makes it all the more appealing for discerning travelers and one of the top destinations for summer holidays in India.

6) ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR ISLANDS

Renowned as one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in India, Andaman group of Island consists of 52 islands out of which 36 are inhabited. Apart from the relaxed tropical ambiance, amazing diversity of corals and marine life what draws the tourist to Andaman is existence of the remnants of Stone Age culture and the colonial inheritance.

It is known as the birth place of Yoga, the phenomenon that has caught the attention of people’s imagination around the world. Rishikesh in Uttarakhand is the hub for Yoga and meditation in India.

Rishikesh is often referred to as the World Capital of Yoga owing to its global renowned among seekers of peace and contemplation. Rishikesh has emerged as one of the popular adventure tour destinations in India. There are numerous adventure activities like white water rafting, bungee jumping and mountain hiking to offer the adrenaline rush to the visitors.

Rafting from Shivpuri to Rishikesh is quite popular among the thrill seekers. Camping options are also available and it is very much possible to undertake this adventure from Delhi even during short weekend breaks.

8) SHIMLA

It is best visited from October to June. In the summer, one could see rolling cotton wool peaks and during winter, you could frolic in snow and enjoy an array of snow sport and adventure activity. Shimla also happens to be one of the most popular places for honeymoon in India.

10) KERALA

Lying amidst verdant Western Ghats, Wayanad is one of the most captivating hill town of Kerala that is also called the ‘Green Paradise’ as it shares borders with the greener patches of the state. Lush agriculture fields, thick forests and misty hills of Kerala add to its scenic charm. The place gets its name from Vayal Nadu, where Vayal means paddy fields and Nadu meaning the land, which makes Wayanad a land of paddy fields.

Wayanad bird sanctuary is one of the main attractions, blessed with rich flora and fauna, quite popular amidst bird watching enthusiasts. Soak-in the aroma of tea, coffee, vanilla, cardamom and pepper, while talking a leisure walk. Chembra Peak, Neelima, Meenmutty waterfalls, Chethalayam, Pakshipathalam, Banasura Sagar Dam are the other tourist attractions.
