Disneyland Paris closes theme parks following ‘horrendous’ attacks

Date:

Following a series of tragic events in Paris, France, Disneyland Paris has just announced via Facebook that they will not be operating on November 14.

The theme park east of Paris, one of Europe’s leading tourist attractions, said in a statement that it decided not to open Saturday “in light of the recent tragic events in France and in support of our community and the victims of these horrendous attacks.”

It posted a message on its official website: “In light of the recent tragic events in France and in support of our community and the victims of these horrendous attacks, Disneyland Paris has decided not to open its theme parks on Saturday 14 November. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by these horrible events.”

The park was set to celebrate their holiday offerings by sharing highlights of Disney’s Christmas Parade, Mickey’s Magical Christmas Lights, Frozen Sing-along and Disney Dreams! of Christmas! on the resorts Facebook and Twitter later today.

Disney Parks have closed early or remained closed in the past due to national events. Notably, Magic Kingdom was evacuated on September 11, 2001 while Disneyland never opened on that day. Some 14 million people visited Disneyland Paris in 2014.
