Army called as leopard spreads panic in Meerut

Date:

Meerut: The Army is called to catch a leopard creating panic in this town. So far, it has attacked eight persons, and disappeared. Schools and colleges, which were shut on Monday due to a scare, reopened. But policemen are standing guard everywhere in the city, which is a little over an hour’s drive from the capital.

The cat was last seen late on Sunday night, when it jumped out of a hospital and escaped despite all efforts to subdue or tranquilize it. Meerut’s police have spread out in search of the animal that reportedly strayed into a cinema hall and an apartment block on Monday.
