According to NorthEast Today, former chairman of the Dima Halam Daogah (DHD)-J, Jewel Garlosa, who recently joined BJP, was arrested in connection with a murder case registered in 2008 at Haflong.
An elected member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), Garlosa was in Guwahati in connection with party affairs and had even met Assam Governor PB Acharya along with various other members of the Council.
The arrest of Garlosa has, meanwhile, drawn sharp reactions from the saffron party. BJP spokesperson Bijon Kumar Mahajan said, “This is a clear-cut case of political vendetta and misuse of the State police machinery by the Government in power.”
