Minor boy found dead in open manhole

Body of a 5-year-old boy was recovered today from an open manhole in Hansi town, about 25 km from here, following which enraged family members blocked the Hansi-Jind road.

Sunil went missing while playing near his house at Indira Colony last evening. His family members searched throughout the night but in vain, police said.

This morning, the boy was found dead from an open manhole in the area following which irate family members blocked the Hansi-Jind Road for about three hours by placing the body on the road, they said.

The blockade was lifted after the district administration assured them to pay a compensation of Rs 2 lakh, police said.

Parents of the deceased who work as labourers, hail from Uttar Pradesh and had been living in rented house at Indira Colony of Hansi town.
