Trafficking racket kingpin arrested by Jodhpur Police

Date:

An alleged kingpin of a human trafficking racket, which sold Bangladeshi girls for prostitution in India, has been arrested from his village in West Bengal, police said today.

Sujoy Biswas (33), resident of Laxmipur, was arrested for trafficking girls, mostly minors, for prostitution. He used to bring them from Bangladesh and sell them in different towns and cities of India through his network, said SHO (Udaimandir) Madan Beniwal.

Police produced him at a local court today, which sent him to three days of police custody.

He said the arrests were made by a joint team of the Jodhpur and West Bengal police. A team of the Jodhpur police had left for Bengal three days ago.

“Biswas has earned around Rs1 crore from human trafficking in the past three years,” he said.

“We are questioning him about his network and modus operandi,” said Beniwal.

Earlier, his local aide, Tumpa, a Bangladesh national, was arrested for attempting to kidnap a 3-year-old girl.
