The stage is set for the biggest party for all the automobile enthusiasts as the 2017 Detroit Auto Show is here and while the list of exhibitors is slightly down on last year, there’s still plenty to look forward to.
The show is also where we learn the winners of the prestigious North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards, which once again has a couple of Motor Authority editors serving as judges.
Giving a head start to the Automobile extravaganza, here are some four-wheel beauties that will catch your eyeballs the auto show:
Audi in the next few years will introduce a coupe-like SUV called the Q8. In Detroit, we’ll get a preview of the vehicle with a concept of the same name. The Q8 concept—and production version it will spawn—will be Audi’s first SUV penned by current design boss Marc Lichte, shown here. He is expected to make his mark by introducing a distinct look that will set the vehicle apart from the rest of the Audi fold, which has been criticised for looking too similar.

Infiniti QX50
Another show car in Detroit previewing an upcoming SUV will be the Infiniti QX50 concept. Infiniti has already revealed the vehicle which we’re glad to report looks just like the stunning QX Sport Inspiration concept shown in 2016. Hopefully the next-generation QX50 that the latest concept previews looks just as good. The concept also previews some new technology bound for the next QX50 including Nissan and Infiniti’s ProPilot driver assist feature and VC-Turbo variable compression engine.
Trumpchi GS7, GE3 and EnSpirit
State-owned Chinese automaker GAC is keen to get a foothold in the new car market here in the United States. It hopes to start selling cars here in 2018, one of which could be the Trumpchi GS7 due to be unveiled next week at the 2017 Detroit auto show.

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA
The German auto giant will be showcasing the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and GLA.
E400 4Matic, both powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 making 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Sadly, we’re hearing that there won’t be an E63 Coupe from Mercedes-AMG. Instead, the Mercedes tuner is expected to introduce a tamer E50 Coupe.

2018 Lexus LS
Lexus’ flagship sedan, the LS, is long overdue for a redesign. The current model was introduced as far back as the 2007 model year and simply updated over the years. Thankfully, there’s nothing carried over from the current car on the redesigned model. The car will get the rear-wheel-drive platform that debuted in the 2018 Lexus LC. The new platform should lead to less mass, a lower centre of gravity and improved stiffness and rigidity.
2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Chevrolet is working on a new range-topper for its C7 Corvette lineup, a model more potent than the Z06. It hasn’t been confirmed that the car will be at the Detroit auto show but all indications point that way. The car is expected to use the Corvette’s ZR1 badge, last used on a C6 Corvette range-topper, and it should have more power than the 650 hp of the Z06.
