Battle for States: ‘I am a born Congressman, have come back to my roots,’ says Sidhu

A day after Cricketer-turned- politician, Navjot Singh Sidhu joined the Congress Party ahead of polls in the state of Punjab, Sidhu said that he is a ‘born Congressman and it is his ghar wapasi (homecoming).

Addressing a press conference at Congress Headquarter in the capital, former cricketer said,

“I am a born Congressman, have come back to my roots.”

“This is not my personal fight, I am fighting for Punjab’s rights,” he added.

On the reasons why he left BJP, Sidhu said that BJP chose for alliance with Akali Dal while he chose to contest elections as a single party, and he also pledged to wipe out debt in Punjab.

“BJP chose alliance. I chose Punjab. I Pledge to wipe out debt in Punjab,” Sidhu said.
