Pakistani Army releases another fake video of Kulbhushan Jadhav

Date:

On Thursday, the Pakistan Army’s DGISPR put out a statement on Facebook concerning Kulbhushan Jadhav, which included a 10-minute-long video of the Indian national speaking to a camera.

The video, which shows a gaunt looking Kulbhushan, carries unmistakable signs of being doctored. Not only does he appear to be reading off a script, but also the video is heavily edited and embellished with multiple camera angles, cuts and sound effects.

Perhaps the most suspicious aspect of the entire development is the fact that the video begins by stating that it was recorded in April 2017. This is of particular importance as a long list of significant developments has taken place in this case between then and now, in particular, the internationalisation of the matter and subsequently, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling in India’s favour by ordering a stay on the sham sentence that had been awarded by a Pakistan military court.

In 2016, the Pakistan Army had circulated a video which was overwhelmingly declared to be doctored. It wasn’t allowed to be screened at the ICJ.
