LG “Judy” flagship to debut in June: features and release date revealed

Date:

LG early this year said that it would no longer stick to its annual launch cycle and would roll out updates for phones when required. The company declared that it would introduce a new variant of the V30 at MWC 2018 which will begin from February 26 in Barcelona. However, latest reports indicate that the company is planning to launch its next-generation flagship which is codenamed as “Judy.”

As per reports, the upcoming smartphone will hit the market in June this year. Evan Blass of VentureBeat claims that Judy will be a unique device and won’t be called as G7. According to Blass, the phone will come with a 6.1-inch 18:9 display with support for HDR10 and will sport a new type of display technology.

The new device will also have the MLCD+ panel with white sub-pixels which will provide 800 nits of brightness. It will consume less than 35 percent of power than a regular LCD display. While the G6 sports a 5.7incg 18:9 display with a resolution of 2880×1440 pixels.

The report further indicates that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clubbed with 4GB RAM. It seems the RAM to be on a lower side, as most premium phones come with at least 6GB RAM. The Judy could sport dual 16MP rear sensors with f/1.6 lenses. Features like wireless charging, “boom sound” stereo speakers, IP68 durability, voice assistant and camera AI are included in the phone.

Earlier rumours suggest that LG could redesign the G7 flagship smartphone from scratch. The G7 will be launched at MWC later this month, with a release date for sometime in March. Grapevines even suggest that the company is contemplating to rename its G-series.

Besides, the company’s Vice Chairman and CEO Jo Seong-jin, earlier said that they will not launch new flagship smartphones “just like other rivals do.”
