WhatsApp users are now allowed to delete their messages within 7 minutes. It seems the instant messaging application will soon relax the time set for recalling a message sent to a contact or in a group.
As per reports, users will be allowed to delete a message within an hour. This new feature is currently rolled out for beta users of WhatsApp. As a matter of fact, the feature is a part of WhatsApp’s beta version 2.18.69.
The new update for WhatsApp will not only have an extended timeframe for recalling a message but with the ability to forward Stickers- it is an upcoming addition to the instant messaging platform.
It is important to note that most of the features tested under beta versions do not necessarily make it to the final version. Moreover, the latest update to “delete for everyone” feature is exclusively available to Android beta testers. As per WAbetainfo, a website that regularly monitors the beta updates to WhatsApp, claims that the feature will be soon rolled out on iOS.
“Delete for Everyone” has been one of the most widely anticipated features on WhatsApp. The new feature let users delete the message accidentally sent to a wrong contact or a group. The concept is completely similar to self-destructing messages available on various other instant messaging applications such as Snapchat and Facebook Messenger.
However, despite the roll-out of “Delete for Everyone” feature, there have been a number of workarounds to bypass WhatsApp’s new feature. For example, if someone has quoted your message on WhatsApp before you could delete it, others can still see the original message, making the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature ineffective.
