The E shopping mania is convenient and is on the upswing but for Vandana Dhawan Saxena, an architect based in the millennium city of Gurgaon, it was a rude shock when she received a broken phone instead of a RAM (random access memory) she had ordered from Amazon.
Vandana had ordered for a computer part in office. But when her package from Amazon arrived at her doorstep, she got a trashy broken phone.
“My team had ordered parts for another powerful desktop. We had been having deliveries of parts from Amazon and Flipkart in office all day. Just checked on our last order being delivered and instead of a RAM we get some third grade phone in it,” Vandana told NewsMobile.
“It is really shocking that some broken phone is being sent instead of a Rs 3500-RAM in the packing of the RAM,” she added.
This is not the first goof up made by an e-commerce site. There have been many incidents of customers getting rocks, paper and other unintended items instead of what they ordered.
Last year, a man ordered a Samsung smartphone from Snapdeal and got a bar of soap instead. Another person ordered a Samsung phone from Flipkart and got a marble.
It was not all for Flipkart. In yet another goof-up, a Telangana resident, Chiluveri Srucharan, who had ordered an Asus Zenphone 5 during a mega sale on Flipkart, was delivered mangoes.
While e-tailers have been trying various tactics to woo the customers, these frauds have deterred customers from going full throttle for their products.
