Assam Inspector general of Police (IGP, Law and Order) S.N. Singh ruled out ruled out an improvised explosive device (IED) or grenade blast at Fancy Bazar area here on Saturday evening, in which at least three people were reported to have sustained injuries.
Security forces thronged the spot and are examining the nature of the blasts.
Police Commissioner Mukesh Agrawal, however, said, “There was a sound and subsequently there was another sound. We are investigating this thing carefully. Based on inputs, we have maintained alert in Assam,” Agrawal told the media here.
Fancy Bazar is the business hub of the state.

Meanwhile, Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay has alerted all police stations to remain vigil against possible attack of militant outfits, including ULFA and NDFB, against civilians.
Official sources said police intercepted calls of top National Democratic Front of Bodoland, Songbijit faction, militants to attack a particular community in Assam and neighbouring states.
