Delhi police discovers the cave used by thieves to store their loot

Date:

A 50-metre deep cave that was being used by criminals to hide stolen goods and conceal themselves from the police has been discovered in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area, police sources informed on Friday.

The cave is located in a hilly area near Smriti Vatika Park in Moti Bagh Part 1 and has two narrow entrances. But the inside is relatively spacious from where the police recovered a number of laptops, mobile phones, television sets and expensive watches.

“At one spot in the cave, as many as six people can sleep at once. It is dark and humid, but it helped the thieves hide and made sure they never got caught by the police,”

Chinmoy Biswal, additional DCP (South), told the media.

The cave was discovered after the interrogation of six thieves who were arrested on Wednesday.

Police said the criminals used the torch light of their mobile phones to move around inside the cave. They would often have their meals there as well, said the officer, and keep a stock of essential items to survive while on the run.
