Pregnant teen fatally shoots boyfriend in dangerous YouTube stunt

Date:

A 19-year-old US teen Monalisa Perez who is seven months pregnant, faces a second degree manslaughter charge after fatally shooting her 22-year old boyfriend. It was a stunt for their youtube account that went horribly wrong. The Sheriff claims that it was an accident.

Perez told the police that her boyfriend Pedro wanted to make a video of her shooting him with a handgun from a foot away, while he held a book up for protection. He had apparently been talking about it for a while, and convinced Perez that the book would stop the bullet. He convinced her by presenting another book he had previously shot, where the bullet didn’t go all the way through.

They set up two cameras to film the whole thing, thinking that the video would go viral.  She fired from about a foot away with a .50-caliber Desert Eagle handgun while he held the book to his chest. Paramedics on the scene said Pedro died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The couple’s YouTube channel,”La MonaLisa’, had videos dating back one month in which they published an account of their lives. His aunt, Claudia Ruiz said he wanted more youtube viewers. “I don’t know why they thought the book was supposed to stop the bullet,” she said and further added, “They were in love. They loved each other. It was just a prank gone wrong.”

The couple had a three year old daughter who apparently witnessed the whole thing and were expecting another child soon.

The video of the shooting is being treated as evidence and has not been released, according to the complaint. Perez posted a few days before the incident on twitter, “Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever. HIS idea not MINE,” probably referring to the stunt.
