Chris Gayle creates T20 world record

Chris Gayle, the West Indies superstar, added yet another milestone to his illustrious career as he became the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket history.

Gayle hit Basil Thampi for a single off the third ball of the fourth over in the match against Gujarat Lions to reach the magic figure.

Brendon McCullum, the former New Zealand captain, who plays for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is second batsman on the list with 7,524 runs.

Before the start of this match, Gayle had played 289 T20s, scoring a total of 9997 runs at an average of 40.47 and a strike rate of 149.20. He has scored 18 centuries and 60 fifties with his highest being 175* against the Pune Warriors India back in Indian Premier League in 2013.
