PM did nothing for North East: Modi

Date:

Imphal: Prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did nothing for the development of the North-East region. Dr Singh has been a Rajya Sabha member from Assam for the last 22 years. Modi was addressing two rallies, one in Manipur and one in Assam, on Saturday as part of his first campaign visit to the North East.
Calling the death of Arunachal Pradesh student Nido Tania in Delhi a “national shame”, he added, “I hope the government of India and the government of Delhi will shun blame game and do justice in the matter.”

At another rally in Guwahati two hours later, he reiterated his attack on the ruling UPA government and the PM and claimed that Assam was the least developed of all the north-eastern states. “If the PM can’t do anything for his constituency, then what will he do for the country?” he added.
