Congress keeps Kalmadi away but Tytler hopeful

Date:

New Delhi: Congress top brass met behind closed doors for two hours on Tuesday to finalise their first list of candidates in politically crucial states of UP, Gujarat and Maharashtra. A hundred names have been finalised. But Suresh Kalmadi, the strongman of Pune, does not figure in the list. His wife or daughter may be accommodated, as Kalmadi was seen among the Congress MPs who attended a dinner hosted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday.

Another controversial candidate has thrown in his hat in the electoral ring. Jagdish Tytler has decided to take part in the Congress primary for the North East Lok Sabha seat in Delhi.
