Modi faces fresh Advani fire

Date:

New Delhi: There are dissensions within the BJP, according to reports party’s senior most leader L K Advani has supported Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of BJP’s “One-man party”.  Advani told BJP leaders that he agreed that the party was dominated by Narendra Modi and there was nothing wrong with Gandhi’s observation.

The veteran leader has been making similar observations over the last few weeks as the election campaign has grown. One BJP leader who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, on February 27, Advani made his feelings known to Modi and BJP President Rajnath Singh in central election committee meeting.

Advani and Modi have had a strained relationship for months now, with the party elder famously quitting the party upon Modi’s elevation as campaign committee chief in BJP’s Goa conclave in June 2013. Advani has also stayed away from the party’s parliamentary board meeting since BJP named Modi as its PM candidate. Another BJP leader said the candid comments root from Advani’s want to be the party’s PM candidate.
