Scientists in the US say they’ve discovered a new dinosaur species. Anzu Wyliei was a 3 metre tall bird-like dinosaur that lived alongside Tyrannosaurus rex about 66 million years ago. Like a bird it had feathers, sharp claws and a toothless beak. The scientists think their discovery proves dinosaurs were still evolving at the time they went extinct.
Robin van Persie’s hat-trick on Wednesday meant a fantastic comeback for Manchester United over Olympiakos. David Moyes’ side won 3-2 on aggregate, taking them into the Champions League quarter-finals. Van Persie’s first goal came from a penalty midway through the first half at Old Trafford. Then just before half time he scored his second and levelled the tie overall. He sealed the deal with a free-kick in the second half. Supporters then faced a tense forty minutes as United held on for the win.
Sony has unveiled a virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4 at a show in San Francisco. The device is nicknamed Project Morpheus and at the moment is still being developed. The gadget has an HD display and can track head movement. The device will be available for game developers to test – but Sony didn’t say when it would be available to buy.
Hit mobile game Flappy Bird will return to the app store, its creator Dong Nguyen has confirmed. He deleted Flappy Bird from the app store in February and said its popularity had ruined his “simple life”. Mr Nguyen launched the game in May 2013. On Wednesday, a fan asked him on Twitter whether the game was coming back. He replied: “Yes. But not soon.” He later added: “I will release it when it is done.”
Two pieces of floating debris that could be from missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 have been spotted in the Indian Ocean hundreds of miles south west of Australia this morning. John Young of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said one object spotted by a satellite was 78ft long and was the most promising lead in the search for the Boeing 777 that has been missing for 12 days. Four aircraft have been sent to investigate the sighting in the circled area around 1553 miles off the coast of Perth.
