- A pair of white storks nesting in Norfolk could be the first in the UK to breed from a nest for nearly 600 years. White storks breed in Europe and migrate to Africa in winter. The last record of storks breeding in Britain was at St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh, in 1416.
- A new study has revealed that when a shark gets hungry, it will use all the senses it has available to hunt down something to eat. The goal of the study was to figure out how sharks use their different senses together, rather than separating one sense at a time.
- A futuristic body-drying gadget could get rid of towels once and for all. The Body Dryer looks a little bit like a bathroom scale which you stand on, and it blows air upward to dry you off. You can choose between hot or cold air, depending on your mood. The Body Dryer isn’t designed to dry your hair, so some people might still want to keep a towel or blow dryer handy.
- A team of scientists have made an exciting discovery and dug up a huge elephant tusk in Saudi Arabia that’s 300,000 years old. They discovered it under sand beside a dried up ancient lake, suggesting that the scorching hot deserts there, once used to be covered in lush grassy land, where large animals roamed.
- A researcher has estimated that there are one million bubbles in each glass of champagne. Gerard Liger-Belair said one million bubbles seem to be a reasonable approximation for the whole number of bubbles likely to form if you resist drinking champagne from your flute (glass).
