New Delhi: A 19-year-old acquired the Indian PM’s twitter handle for about half an hour on Tuesday, even tweeting from it. A budding entrepreneur Qaiser Ali runs his own social network with 15,000 users with plans to launching a dating app which according to him will revolutionize digital rendezvous worldwide.
While attempting to reset his twitter handle, @Iamqaiserali, with a new name, he realised the PMO’s had reset its official twitter handle, @PMOIndia to @PMOIndiaArchive, and the old handle was available. Unsuspecting of the consequences, he took it and tweeted about the big catch.
However, the next day Ali realised his mistake, and sent out an apology to the PMO. And later sent an apology to Pankaj Pachauri, the media adviser to outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Also, before Twitter India could recover the handle that should have been the prime minister’s, PM-designate Narendra Modi’s team denounced the outgoing PMO’s decision to archive the tweets into a new handle.
Twitter also reset Ali to his old handle, but he became famous as the Lucknow boy who was India’s PM for half an hour.
