AAP cracking as Capt Gopinath and Shazia quit

Date:

New Delhi: The murmurs of discontent are growing louder within AAP, as its leader Arvind Kejriwal is cooling his heels in Tihar Jail, after he has been sent to 14 days’ judicial custody till June 6. Captain Gopinath, Founder of Air Deccan, and Shazia Ilmi, one of the founder members of the party, have resigned from the party. Shazia said sensationalism is destroying the credibility of the party and there is no inner democracy with the party.

Sources in the party say Ms Ilmi was unhappy over the choice of her Lok Sabha constituency Ghaziabad from where she unsuccessfully contested. A journalist who has been with the party since its inception, she reportedly wanted to contest from one of the seven seats in Delhi.
