Naidu seeks special status for Seemandhra

New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday arrived in the national capital to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with a special wish list for Seemandhra.  Naidu met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday morning.

Naidu will meet the Prime Minister in the evening to discuss granting of special state status to Seemandhra for a period of 10 years, and not five years as incorporated in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act 2014. Naidu is expected to press for an ordinance in this regard.

He is also expected to take up issues like division of assets and liabilities between Seemandhra and Telangana, besides allocation of staff and power, among other issues.

The issue of Seemandhra’s new capital and central funding for it would also be discussed.
