  • A massive collection of 1,600 paper giant pandas have gone on display in Hong Kong. The artist who created them made exactly 1,600 paper pandas to mark the number of wild giant pandas that there are in the world. He hopes to encourage people to do more to protect wild animals as well as the environment.

 

  • The first indoor trampoline park in England has opened in Surrey.  The bouncy attraction in Camberley features huge trampoline courts, foam pits and angled trampolines around the walls.  Trampoline exercise classes have been organised to help people get fit, and there’s even a weekly trampoline disco with a DJ.

 

  • A new study suggests that sending text messages with unusual grammar and spelling doesn’t stop children learning the rules of the English language. Over 160 children aged 8 to 16 years old took part in the study.  The researchers compared spelling and grammar in formal tests to the children’s text messages, once at the start of the project and again after a year. The results showed the most creative texters were among the best spellers.

 

  • A new study by NASA has revealed that there might be cracks in Pluto’s giant moon Charon, which could indicate that it once had a subterranean ocean of liquid water. Alyssa Rhoden of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland said that their model predicts different fracture patterns on the surface of Charon depending on the thickness of its surface ice, the structure of the moon’s interior and how easily it deforms and how its orbit evolved.

 

  • Nintendo has announced a host of new games for its 3DS and Wii U consoles. The gaming giant has been struggling to sell its Wii U consoles and is trying to use some of its biggest characters to turn things around. The Wii U will get the first open-world Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda, where players can roam wherever they like. Gamers will also be able to build their own Mario levels for the first time with a new game called Mario Maker. Nintendo announced the games at a video game exhibition called E3. Every year games companies like Sony and Microsoft show off their latest work there.
