Adnan Januzaj was only seven years old when he joined FC Brussels. Currently a winger for Manchester United, the Belgium national football player has received several awards during his career. It includes the FA Community Shield in 2013, the Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year in 2012–13 and the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup Golden Ball in 2013.
Born and Raised:
He was born on 5 February 1995 in Brussels, Belgium, but soon migrated because his father was trying to escape from the Yugoslav Army recruitment.
Young footballer:
He began early, joining FC Brussels initially, but joined Anderlecht as a 10-year-old in 2005.
Before Manchester United:
From 2005 to 2011, he proved to be a one-club man, playing for Anderlecht till he was a 16-year-old lad.
Life in Manchester United:
In March 2011, after an impressive patch of performances in Brussels, he made the big leap to Manchester United, with whom he has continued till date.
Januzaj made his competitive debut for Manchester United against Wigan Athletic on 11 August 2013. Towards the end of the 2012–13 season, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson promoted Januzaj to the first-team.
International career:
Eligible to represent Belgium through birth and passport, Albania through his ethnic Albanian heritage, Turkey through his grandparents, and Serbia due to the disputed status of his parents’ homeland of Kosovo, he declined to accept, national team coach Marc Wilmots’ attempt to select Januzaj for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying on 7 October 2013.
