Indias maiden Mars mission successful

Date:

Bangalore: India’s maiden Mars mission was successfully accomplished after the spacecraft entered the orbit around the red planet early on Wednesday (September 24). Indian space agency ISRO’s low-cost mission to Mars successfully entered Mars, crowning India as the first country to execute such a project in its maiden attempt. The spacecraft, called Mangalyaan, was launched in November last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself closely watched the final phase of the launching at ISRO in Bangalore. The success of the Mars Orbiter Mission, lauded for its low price tag of $74 million, will boost India’s five-decade-old space programme that Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to expand with better infrastructure and technology.
