Mumbai: Senior Congress leader Murli Deora passed away in Mumbai after a prolonged illness on Monday. Deora was unwell from a long time and was admitted to a hospital. Several Congress leaders are expected to attend the funeral which will take place later in the day. A regional party leader expressed grief over the demise of Deora. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences on the demise of the minister.
Modi tweeted, “A dedicated leader, Murli Deora’s warm nature made him popular across party lines. News of his demise is saddening. My deepest condolences to @milinddeora and the Deora family on Shri Murli Deora’s demise. May his soul rest in peace.” “Just yesterday I had spoken to Shri Murli Deora’s family and asked about his health. Very sad to hear the unfortunate news today,” he added.
