New Delhi: Sahara group moved the Supreme Court on Tuesday, appealing relief for its Chief Subrata Roy, citing his deteriorating health.
The Supreme Court said it can only direct Tihar jail to necessary treatment to Roy.
The move comes a day after the Central Board of Direct Taxes recovered nearly 140 crores from the company in raids.
Roy was jailed in March amid a long-running dispute of Sahara group with the capital markets regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) over repayment of billions of dollars to investors who were sold certain bonds. Sahara group, however, has maintained that it has repaid over 93% of the investors.
