Toulon sign Pumas hooker as medical cover

Date:

European champions Toulon announced Tuesday the signing of Argentina hooker Matias Cortese as medical cover for injured South African Craig Burden.

Burden, who is suffering from a pectoral muscle injury, needs an operation and will be out of action for several months, Toulon said in a statement.

Cortese, who was an unused substitute for the Pumas in their 18-13 victory over France in Paris on Saturday, is no stranger to French rugby fans, having previously played for Biarritz, Bayonne and Colomiers.

The 29-year-old has also worn the colours of Northampton and Gloucester in England.
