Alia chooses Shahid over Farhan

Date:

The talented and first choice of every director, Alia Bhatt chose Abhishek Chaubey’s ‘Udata Punjab’ over Rock On 2. Alia plays lead role opposite to Shahid Kapoor after doing her first movie ‘Shaandar’ with him.

Alia was offered Shujaat Saudagar’s Rock On 2 but due to the clash of schedule she chose Udta Punjab and not Rock On 2.

It is possible that Alia Bhatt chose to do Udta Punjab because Rock On 2 has an ensemble cast which would give less importance to her role.  She was offered a role as a band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in ‘Rock On’.

Incidentally there were rumours that the female lead in Udta Punjab had been offered to two of Shahid Kapoor’s ex-girlfriends, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

“All a figment of some writers’ imagination. Alia Bhatt was Abhishek Chaubey’s first choice. The director waited for Alia to sort out her dates,” says a source.

When one asked Alia about her rejection of Rock On 2 she said, “Shall we just stick to Udta Punjab? I said a big YES to that!”

When asked why she was working on two back-to-back films with Shahid, Alia shot back, “Why not?”

Meanwhile Alia Bhatt’s shooting with Shahid Kapoor for ‘Shaandar’ has wrapped up.
