Jaipur: Â As the Pink City prepares for one of the largest literature fests, reports accuse of tour operators taking advantage of the biggest influx of writers and thinkers to Jaipur. Â
Some websites are conning first-timers to Jaipur with astonishing charges, like Rs 6,756 for a 3-km rickshaw journey, a balloon ride for Rs 20,837 which is 30% more expensive than the usual price, and an elephant ride at Nahargarh Biological Park at Rs 5,247 for foreign tourists.
The report states that a tour operator even offered a “discounted rate†for elephant rides at Rs 8,363 per person.
The Jaipur literature festival will be a four day event beginning on January 21. From Nobel laureates to local language writers, Man Booker prize winners to debut novelists, Rajasthan has hosted the fiesta since 2006.
