New Delhi: Subramanian Swamy, the BJP leader tweeted that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor “allegedly spent three nights with suspected ISI compliant journalist Tararâ€.
The tweet on Monday comes as investigation is in full swing on the murder of Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar. Pushkar before her death had claimed Tharoor was having an affair with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.
Swamy was referring to the allegations made by a leading journalist which suggested that a witness revealed during judicial inquest that Tharoor and Tarar stayed together in Dubai for three days.
Sunanda had told Singh that she had proof of Tharoor and Tarar having spent three nights in Dubai in June 2013. She also confided to Singh that she had “taken over the crimes of Tharoor in the IPL matter”.
Responding to the revelation Tarar said, “I don’t want to make any comment. I am waiting for the police to call me. I am ready to cooperate with police in investigation.” On spending three nights with Tharoor in Dubai, the Pakistani journalist said, “I was there at a function and many people were there.”
Pushkar, was found dead in a five-star hotel in the capital on the night of January 17, 2014, a day after her Twitter spat with Tarar over the latter’s alleged affair.
Swamy on Saturday alleged that Shashi Tharoor knew about his wife’s killer, and added that the Congress leader had been trying to cover up the case by telling lies.
“Tharoor did not kill her, but Tharoor knows who killed her and facilitated her killing. He told lies and tried to cover up, so he will also be sent to jail, but won’t get capital punishment,”
Earlier in July 2014, Swamy alleged that Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor was killed in a professional way. “Sunanda Pushkar had said she would expose the IPL deals. Robert Vadra’s name would also have surfaced,” Swamy said.
However, demanding a court-monitored investigation in the Sunanda’s death case, Swamy said he will be filing a PIL very soon.
Swamy has maintained throughout that there was a foul play in Sunanda’s death. He said evidence pointed that Pushkar was murdered using Russian poison, adding that he had the proof to support his charges.
Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor reached the capital on Sunday and is likely to be questioned soon by the Delhi police.
