Ex-Olympic champion Ammann back in training

Date:

Four-time Olympic ski jumping champion Simon Ammann returned to training on Thursday, just two weeks after suffering a serious head injury in a fall at the prestigious Four Hills.

“I feel fine physically,” said the 33-year-old Swiss.

“As far as my return is concerned, we have targeted the world championships which start (in Sweden) on February 18, but there’s still a long way to go before that point.”

The Swiss star fell face-first after his second jump of 136m, his legs spread into a splits and his head slammed into the ice at the Four Hills event in Bischofshofen.

Ammann is no stranger to injury — he was seriously hurt in a fall at Willingen in 2002 but went on to claim an Olympic double a month later at Salt Lake City.
